Guests ordering varies by pane. This sometimes causes confusion, so we want to clarify things.
In the Guests pane:
Guests are ordered according to how that pane is sorted. To sort by a column, click on the column header (click a second time to reverse the order). If you want to sort by multiple columns, use the Multi-Level Sort window.
If you want to display the guests in the order they were imported, see keep guests in import order.
You can also set up a custom (non-alphabetic) ordering of guests by their title or suffix.
In the Groups pane:
Guests are ordered in the same fashion as the Guests pane, except that members of a group are always shown below the group. So clicking on the Last column will sort by last name within each group.
In the Table Chart, Guest Chart and Stationery panes:
The ordering of guests and groups depends on options in the pane. However, if you are listing members of a group (e.g. setting By to Group and Display to Member names in the Table Chart pane), the member order is set by the Order field in the Group Properties window (or the Group tab of the Guest Properties window).
The Troubleshooting report in the Report pane allows you to quickly check any potential issues in your table plan. We recommend you check it before you finalize any plan.
Currently, there are 38 separate checks, including:
The report tries to be intelligent about warnings, looking for inconsistencies. For example, it won’t warn about assigned guests without a meal choice if no guests have meal choices (maybe you don’t want to track meals).
Are there additional checks we could add, which would make your life easier? Feel free to email us suggestions.
If you are still using PerfectTablePlan v6 (or earlier!) then you are missing a lot of new features. For a brief summary, see the v7 improvements page.

This is a seating plan from 1517:
It was for a banquet held by King Henry VIII, following a tournament at Greenwich, England. The French Queen was in attendance and the 30 seated guests had 250 attendants! More details here.
