PerfectTablePlan v6.0.4 released for Mac

Following some third party library issues with v6.0.2 on Mac we released v6.0.3 for Mac, with the latest version of the third party libraries. Unfortunately we are still getting reports of intermittent crashes for v6.0.3.

Quite a few customers have reported crashes, but no-one has been able to tell us how to reproduce the crashes reliably. It is almost impossible to fix a problem that we can't reproduce, especially if it is in someone else's code. It is very frustrating for us and, of course, for those experiencing the crashes.

So we have produced a new v6.0.4 release, that is identical to v6.0.2 and v6.0.3, except we have reverted to building with an earlier third party library (the same as was used for v6.0.1). We hope this will be a lot more stable. It should also fix an issue with empty drop-down menus. This release is for Mac only.

As a bonus we are also able to support macOS 10.11 in this new release.

If you have experienced problems with v6.0.2 or v6.0.3 we recommend you upgrade to v6.0.4 immediately. Apologies for any inconvenience.

If v6.0.2 or v6.0.3 is working fine for you with no issues, then there is no need to upgrade.

If you are on macOS 10.11 we recommend you upgrade to v6.0.4 to get the improvements described here.

Find out more and download the new version from the release page.

This is a free upgrade for all customers on Mac with a v6 licence.

If you have any issues with this release, please email us.

v6.0.2 remains the most recent release for Windows. There have been very few crash reports for v6.0.2 for Windows.

Guest filtering

We have had a number of support emails about the disappearance of the guest filtering field in the Guests pane of v6. It is still there! You just have to press the 'filter' button to see it. There are also 2 additional filter fields in v6, allowing you to filter by RSVP and assignment status.

Expert tips

PerfectTablePlan has a lot of powerful features that can really speed up your planning and improve your final plans. But some of these features are quite well hidden, to prevent the user interface from becoming too overwhelming. Once you have mastered the basics we really recommend you spend 10 minutes looking through the Expert tips page in the documentation. You can read them online, with separate versions for Windows and Mac.

Seating arrangements, the novel

seating arrangements book

"Winn's wife, Biddy, has planned the wedding with military precision, but arrangements are sideswept by a storm of salacious misbehavior and intractable lust: Daphne's sister, Livia, who has recently had her heart broken by Teddy Fenn, the son of her father's oldest rival, is an eager target for the seductive wiles of Greyson's best man; Winn, instead of reveling in his patriarchal duties, is tormented by his long-standing crush on Daphne's beguiling bridesmaid Agatha; and the bride and groom find themselves presiding over a spectacle of misplaced desire, marital infidelity, and monumental loss of faith in the rituals of American life."

Who knew seating arrangements could be so exciting? Available from Amazon (we haven't read it!).
