Try reading the step-by-step instructions for download, install and start-up, if you haven't already done so.
"The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program." appears when I try to run the installer
This is probably an error occurring during the download, rather than a problem with our file. Try the following (easiest listed first).
- Use the (alternate download server) link here to download from our backup server. Or;
- Download and install PerfectTablePlan using a different web browser. For example if the problem occurred with Internet Explorer try using Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari or Opera instead. Or;
- Download the PerfectTablePlan installer on a different Windows computer and either install it there or transfer it across to your original computer (e.g. using a memory stick or shared folder). Or;
- Delete the corrupt copy cached by your browser and then download again. For Internet Explorer: click on Tools, then Internet Options, then under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files... (NB/ the user interface might be slightly different on different versions of IE). Then try downloading the installer again.
"Error opening registry key: RegCreateKeyEx failed; code 5. Access is denied" appears when I try to run the installer
You need to be able to access this registry key during the install. Try the following:
- Install as Administrator by right clicking on the installer and selecting 'Run as Administrator' (you might need a friendly IT person to do this); or
- Install PerfectTablePlan from a zip file; or
- Try changing the ownership of the registry key, but this is entirely at your own risk.
"An error occurred while trying to create a file in the destination directory: Access is denied" appears part way through running the installer
PerfectTablePlan is unable to install into the directory you have selected (e.g. you don't have privileges to create a folder in C:\program files). Try the following:
- Install as Administrator by right clicking on the installer and selecting 'Run as Administrator' (you might need a friendly IT person to do this); or
- Re-run the installer and choose a different folder in the Select destination location screen, e.g. C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local; or
- Install PerfectTablePlan from a zip file; or
"Unable to execute file in the temporary directory. Set up aborted. Error 5: Access denied" appears when I try to run the installer
You may not have permission to run the installer in a temporary folder. Try the following:
- Copy the installer to a different folder (e.g. your 'Desktop'); or
- Install as Administrator by right clicking on the installer and selecting 'Run as Administrator' (you might need a friendly IT person to do this); or
- Install PerfectTablePlan from a zip file
"Internal error:Failed to expand shell folder constant "userdocs"." appears part way through running the installer
The installer cannot find your Documents folder to install sample plans, clipart and stationery templates into. You can fix this my restoring your default Windows Documents folder and trying again. To do this:
- Right click your Documents folder in Explorer
- Select Properties
- Select the Location tab
- Click Restore Default
If this isn't convenient install PerfectTablePlan from a zip file.
Note that PerfectTablePlan doesn't need the sample plans, clipart and stationery templates to work.
"Internal error:Unknown constant "allusersprofile"." appears part way through running the installer
Usually Windows has an ALLUSERDATA environment variable that points to your "C:\Program Data" folder. It appears that it isn't set for your Windows account. Try either of the following:
- Install as Administrator by right clicking on the installer and selecting 'Run as Administrator' (you might need a friendly IT person to do this); or
- Install PerfectTablePlan from a zip file; or
- Add an ALLUSERDATA environment variable that points to a folder that you can place files in and re-run the installer (you might need a friendly IT person to do this).
"This installation cannot be opened" appears when I try to run the installer
If you get an error like this:
This installation cannot be opened. Contact application vendor to verify this is a valid windows installation package.
It may be due to a browser bug, especially if you are using an old version of the Netscape or AOL browser. Try downloading PerfectTablePlan with a recent version of Internet Explorer, FireFox, Chrome, Safari or Opera. See also "The setup files are corrupted" above.
"api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing" appears when I try to run the installed program
The Visual C++ 2015 run-time libraries are not correctly installed. Try running Windows Update. If that doesn't fix it, try to (re)install the Visual C++ 2015 run-time.
"This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized" appears when I try to run the installed program
PerfectTablePlan v6.0.0 onwards runs on Windows 11/10/8/7. It does not support Windows Vista or Windows XP.
"This program appears to be damaged/corrupted. Please re-install. If the problem persists please email support" appears when I try to run the installed program
