Ids

Items, such as guests, groups and tables, have associated Ids. The ID is a globally unique identifier for that item.

PerfectTablePlan creates 15 character hexadecimal codes. But any unique string of characters is permitted.

The ID is automatically assigned when an item is created and will not change. E.g. it will be the same value when exported/saved as it was when first created/imported/read in.

You cannot edit an ID through the PerfectTablePlan user interface.

You can check for duplicate guest Ids using the Troubleshooting report.

Advanced and Professional editions only

If you create a guest 'Mr John Smith' in plan myplan1.tp and then File>Save As... the plan to myplan2.tp, then the guest will have the same ID in both plan files, even if you subsequently change their name in either plan. Which means you can run Multi-plan reports by ID.

If you create a guest 'Mr John Smith' in plan myplan1.tp then File>New and create another 'Mr John Smith' in plan myplan2.tp., then the guest will not have the same ID in both plan files. So you will have to run Multi-plan reports by name.

Running Multi-plan reports by ID is preferred, because running Multi-plan reports by name causes issues if:

The Title, First name or Last name is altered in any of the plans.

2 people in a plan have the same Title+First name+Last name (case insensitive).

Professional edition only

You can import and export guest Ids. This is useful for integrating PerfectTablePlan with other systems, such as event registration and CRM systems.

Guest Ids are also very useful for:

merge imports

importing proximity data

guest barcodes
