PerfectTablePlan v4.1.1

This release adds bug fixes to version 4.1.0. You will require a version 4 licence key to unlock the full functionality. You can buy a licence key here (or upgrade from a previous version here).

We recommend that you back-up any important plan files before installing any new release.

Backward/forward compatibility

This version can read plan (.tp) files saved by any earlier version of PerfectTablePlan. But reading 4.1.1 plans into versions of the software before 4.1.0 may lose some data.

System requirements

PerfectTablePlan runs on Windows 2000 or later and Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later. More detailed system requirements are here.

Bug fixes

The following bug fixes have been made since version 4.1.0:

Windows and Macintosh

All editions

1. The scroll bar in the Guests, Groups and Schematic panes was not always properly updated during searching. This is now fixed. Thank you to Andrew C and Jim B for reporting this. [Fixed in v4.1.1]

2. Exporting the Floor plan pane as an image with export image as large as possible checked in the Preferences pane sometimes caused a crash. This is now fixed. Images are now limited to a maximum of 4096x4096 pixels. If you want higher resolution you should export to PDF. Thank you to Bertil J and Alan W for reporting this. [Fixed in v4.1.1]

3. When exporting to CSV format PerfectTablePlan used to only add double quotes when required i.e. around tokens containing double quotes, commas or carriage returns. However Excel wasn’t always clever enough to handle this properly. So double quotes are now added around all CSV tokens. E.g. John,Smith is now exported to CSV as “John”,”Smith”. Thank you to Derrick A for reporting this. [Fixed in v4.1.1]

4. Stationery was being exported to PDF with a small additional margin. This is now fixed. Make sure you print the PDF from Adobe Acrobat with Page scaling set to None to get the correct size printout (a hint to this effect has been added to the Export PDF window). Thank you to Alan W for reporting this. [Fixed in v4.1.1]

5. When the last guest in a group is deleted the group is now also deleted. A group is not deleted if all the guests are dragged from it to another group (you might want to add other guests into this group). [Fixed in v4.1.1]

6. Anonymous guests are now sorted in the Guest chart pane according to the name of the group they belong to. [Fixed in v4.1.1]

7. There is now a warning message the first time you print or export a floor plan with grid lines. It also tells you how to turn off the grid lines. [Fixed in v4.1.1]

8. There is now a more informative message if you try to save while trialling an edition higher than the one you are licensed for. [Fixed in v4.1.1]

9. There is now more informative hint text in the Floor plan when you haven’t assigned guests to seats. [Fixed in v4.1.1]

10. Sorting of groups is now locale aware and not case sensitive. [Fixed in v4.1.1]

Professional edition

11. The Detailed (guests) report confused some people and resulted in untidy export to CSV files. This is now fixed. Thank you to Julia F for reporting this. [Fixed in v4.1.1]

12. PerfectTablePlan could sometimes load the same plan twice (doubling up each guest and table) if you double clicked on a plan (.tp) file while also having At start up set to open last plan in the Preferences window. We believe this is now fixed (we can’t be sure as we weren’t able to reproduce it here). Thank you to Ted C, Gary L and Carolyn B for reporting this. [Fixed in v4.1.1]

13. You can now drag contacts directly from the Apple Address Book application to the Guests or Groups panes of PerfectTablePlan. Previously this wasn’t possible in Mac OS X 10.5 or later. Note that you can only drag contacts, not groups of contacts. However you can use the command key to select multiple contacts to drag. [Fixed in v4.1.1]

The following are known issues in this version:

Macintosh only

All editions

1. If you set View>User interface>Expert with User interface style set to Unified toolbar and titlebar in the Preferences window, you may not be able to resize the Main window as small as you would like. You can reduce the problem by unchecking tool bar text and large tool bar icons in the Preferences window. Or you can avoid it altogether by setting User interface style to Standard in the Preferences window. This appears to be a bug in an underlying third party library. We hope it will be fixed soon.

Installation and use

 Windows

Download PerfectTablePlan_4_1_1.exe for Windows 7/Vista/XP/2000 (14.8 MB)

1. If you are already running PerfectTablePlan, close the application now.
2. Right-click on the link above and select Save Target As... (IE), Save Link As... (FireFox) or Save Link Target As... (Netscape).
3. Select a convenient location on your PC to download the file to (e.g. the desktop).
4. When the file has finished downloading on to your PC, double-click on the .exe file to install it. If a Do you want to run this file? window is displayed click Run.
5. Follow the installer instructions. We recommend installing the software into the same folder as any previous versions (usually C:\Program Files\PerfectTablePlan if you have Administrator or Power User privileges). If you have any problems with the installation please consult the Windows installer troubleshooting page.
6. To run the new version double-click on the shortcut (optionally) added to the Windows Desktop or select the shortcut added to the Windows Start menu.

This installation does not overwrite earlier versions, which will still be available until uninstalled through Start>Control Panel>Add or remove programs.

 Macintosh

Download PerfectTablePlan_4_1_1.dmg for Mac OS X 10.6/10.5/10.4/10.3.9 or later (23.1 MB)

1. If you are already running PerfectTablePlan, quit it now.
2. Click on the link above, the disk image file should start downloading.
3. If the contains an application warning appears, click on Continue.
4. Click on the Agree button of the licence agreement window to accept the licence and continue.
5. A PerfectTablePlan image should now have been downloaded (probably on to your Mac OS X desktop). If it isn’t open already, double click on the downloaded image file to open it.
6. Drag PerfectTablePlan.app to your Applications folder (you can use the shortcut in the install folder). 
7. The PerfectTablePlan samples folder contains some sample table plans and stationery templates. Optionally copy them to your Documents folder (you can use the shortcut in the install folder).
8. To run the new version double-click on the PerfectTablePlan .app icon in the Applications folder (or wherever you installed it to).
